Being a teen is exciting and stressful.  For gifted teen girls, it can be even more so.   Asynchronous development might mean a thirteen year old thinks like she’s 20 but is experiencing the emotional and physiological changes of her fellow junior high classmates.    Also, as the teen years begin, there can be the downplaying of talents or lack of motivation despite ability.  Existential depression can also be experienced by gifted kids and add that on top of the pressures of school, sports, or arts, having a place to process it all becomes important as a way to develop healthy skills for managing stress and emotions.
